What We Like: This place is the shit! The Poly is a heavy hitter when it comes to theming. The lush vegetation, palm trees, and relaxing ukulele instrumentals flowing from the speakers lining the winding walkways take you away to the South Pacific. Once you arrive at the Great Ceremonial House (it’s the fucking lobby, but hey – roll with it) you know you’re on vacation!  It’s got something for everyone, satisfying the foodies with staples like Ohana and Kona, to your water crazed kiddos not wanting to leave the Lava Pool (even the little kids area here is great), to the booze hound staying up late at Trader Sam’s (where you can see the Magic Kingdom Fireworks from the patio). Plus, you just can’t beat the location. While you can’t walk to the Magic Kingdom you can walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center making Epcot that much easier to reach. The Polynesian is also at the center of the monorail loop so you’re always just the second or third stop to/from the Magic Kingdom. On top of that, when heading out via boat you go straight from the dock to the Magic Kingdom. Not enough for you? Well then how about a damn Dole Whip!! That’s right, it’s the only place (2018 Update: Now available at Art of Animation, but not technically Dole Whip -it’s “Pineapple Soft Serve”) at Disney outside of the Parks to grab this iconic snack [drops mic].

What We’d Change: While you’d expect a Deluxe Resort to cost more than your typical hotel digs, this place is fucking expensive. It is consistently the first or second most costly Walt Disney World Resort Hotel on a nightly basis so be prepared to shell out more than you would at other resorts in the same category. But hey, they’ve got Dole Whip, I’m sure that makes up for it.
