During the Disney shareholder meeting today we learned the opening date for the Galaxy’s Edge project on both coasts. The Anaheim incarnation will kick things off on May 31st followed by Orlando in August 29th. An interesting caveat to this is that the Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride will be the only thing operating right away so we’ll have to wait for the Rise of the Resistance attraction at a later date.
Since this is a Walt Disney World focused blog, I’ll give one piece of advice on the Orlando offering. Get an annual pass before August 29th if you want to see Galaxy’s Edge on the East Coast before the masses do. Walt Disney World is known for its passholder preview dates and soft openings when new attractions debut. They announce them pretty last minute, but a safe bet would be to plan on arriving a few days prior. I have no insider knowledge on this, just a hunch.
If you have no desire to visit Galaxy’s Edge right after opening, the week of August 29th would be a great time to hit up the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot.
So now that you know when this party is getting started, are you planning a trip to Walt Disney World this fall? Let us know in the comment section.
