Trader Sam is Returning to Jungle Cruise

Recently the Disney parks loving community has taken to social media to lament the removal of Trader Sam from the iconic Jungle Cruise ride at Walt Disney World. And as with all things that get posted on #DisTwitter you should take them with a grain of salt.

See as it turns out, and as anyone with a working brain already assumed, Disney was just reimagining the Trader Sam character as part of the overall reimaging of the Jungle Cruise ride as a whole which is being done in conjunction with the Jungle Cruise movie which will release on July 30th of this year. HOWEVER this is Disney-fandom where everyone is quick to react and condemn, and complain. “The woke crowd cancelled Trader Sam,” like seriously that’s the shit people post online with full conviction.

Now, I do fully expect the Trader Sam jokes to change with this new iteration since, according to Disney he is now in charge of the gift shop er.. um….Lost and Found. via Disney Parks blog: Word on the stream is that Alberta Falls, proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company Ltd., has entrusted her longtime friend, Trader Sam, to manage the new Lost & Found location.  But, with Trader Sam being Trader Sam, there’s always an opportunity to make some extra money. After all, all the best rides end with a gift shop, right?  With that said this reimaging isn’t changing because of some cancel culture bullshit you tin foil idiots keep conjuring, it’s changing because there is a fucking movie being released. Disney want it’s intellectual property to be prevalent in the parks, now that’s something we can argue about on it’s own, but don’t chalk up a simple change to “over-wokeness.” If you want to get mad blame the IP machine that’s being helmed by Bob Chapek.

For what it’s worth the new iteration of Sam seems to fit, but without having seen it I can’t say for sure if I’ll actually like it. So what have we learned? – well you have probably learned nothing as that seems to be the case every time anything changes at the Disney Parks (you guys do know what literally said the parks are supposed to be in constant flux, right??). But I personally have learned to be patient, let’s see what comes of the new iteration before we condemn something none of us has ridden.
