When planning a trip to Disney World you’re always looking for ways to save money. This shit is expensive. One way to save money is having groceries delivered to your resort. Every 1 and 2 bedroom villa is equipped with a full kitchen, all studio rooms are equipped with a small refrigerator, and all Deluxe resorts have microwaves and refrigerators, so the options are endless. Unless you’re doing a character meal for breakfast, we suggest that you have breakfast food delivered to your resort. In addition to breakfast food you can order all your snacks, water, booze, and any other item you may have forgotten to pack. *Editor’s Note: Each resort does have a very small ‘convenience mart’ located near the lobby. But don’t be fooled- these are nothing more than glorified 7-11s. Each item is more costly than if you were to grab them at the gas station. For instance- my wife’s ‘must have’ Blistex costs $1 normally, and we paid $5 for that shit.

UPDATE – APRIL 2019 Disney is now charging a $6 handling fee per order should you need them to put the order in your room or hold it at front desk. If you want to avoid this fee you’ll need to meet your driver yourself. This will mostly affect Garden Grocer clients as most other vendors require you to be present (especially if there’s alcohol in the order).

Amazon Prime Now App

This is an amazing perk only for Amazon Prime Members. A guaranteed free, two-hour delivery or an additional $4.99 for one-hour delivery, Prime Now is available for delivery from early morning to late evening every day of the week. The only caveat is there is a $35 minimum to get free two-hour delivery however there is no minimum order so if you’re under $35 just pay $4.99 for two hour deliver or $9.99 for one-hour. Amazon offers over 25,000 items across 25 categories, including things like household items, groceries, electronics, gifts, seasonal items, and more. Unfortunately, they do not deliver alcohol in Orlando yet, but I’m sure this will change soon. UPDATE 05/23/18: according to the Miami Herald, Amazon now delivers beer and wine to Orlando daily between the hours of 8am and 10pm, on Sundays these house shrink to 1pm to 7pm. This is super convenient and it will save you a ton of time and money. It’s worth noting that their fresh produce selection is a bit limited but you should be able to make do. Items will be dropped off at Bell Services, so as soon as you board the Magical Express you can order your shit and it will be at your resort around the same time you arrive. Or you can place your order while waiting to board your plane at the airport. This should be your first option for grocery delivery if you’re an Amazon Prime Member!

Check out using your existing Amazon Prime account and our local couriers will deliver to you in the delivery window you choose. Restaurant orders are delivered within 1 hour of the time you place your order – there’s a $3.99 fee for restaurant orders.

Drizly  An alcohol only delivery service with an $20 minimum. $5 fee for a 1 Hour delivery  Pair this up with Amazon Prime Now and get your drink on! Note: Amazon is currently offering beer and wine only so if you want the hard stuff, this is a great option.

Instacart

Instacart is available just about everywhere Stateside these days, 40 States plus DC.  If you don’t have Amazon Prime this is your best option. They use your local grocery and/or liquor stores to fill your order.  In Orlando it’s Publix, Costco, Whole Foods, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits and even CVS Pharmacy. The minimum order is just $10 and the standard delivery fee is $5.99 for two-hours. However, if you order at a busy time or want your order delivered faster than two-hours fees range from $7.99 and up so plan ahead. Instacart generally keeps prices the just a tic above the actual grocery store which is a plus. Also, unlike Amazon they offer a full lineup of fresh produce plus they have booze. If you’re new to their site they’ll give you free delivery on your first order. UPDATE 01/04/21: Instacart now charges an Alcohol Delivery fee in addition to a Service Fee. (usually just a few bucks for each fee but the amount ranges based on what you buy and how busy of a time you’re ordering) The fee structure isn’t fully disclosed so you won’t know what’s what till you go to checkout which sadly is fucking shady. But it’s the only full service option for your Disney Resort so….

Garden Grocer

Garden Grocer is the old school player in the grocery delivery game for Walt Disney World – in fact it’s the only place they deliver. They DO deliver beer & wine which is a plus but there’s no hard liquor – bummer.  They deliver to all the Disney resorts for an order minimum of $40, plus $14 delivery fee ($30 for same day orders, $20 for next day orders but if you spend over $200 they fee is just $2 –  seriously they should waive the damn fee if I spend $200) UPDATE 2020: Delivery fee is waived if you spend $200+. They do give discounts for pre-ordering 15-60 days ahead of your trip. All items will be dropped off at Bell Services. One benefit here is that Walt Disney World is their only market so they know the ins and outs of the property. Unlike the other services where the drivers usually also have Uber and Lyft stickers on their cars. This can be a slight advantage as to say Instacart who sends the Uber guy to drop things off and has no familiarity with your particular resort.
