Walt Disney had a vision that theme parks would be ever evolving. Walt understood that advances in technology and the power of imagination would enable his Imagineers to keep pushing forward to create newer and better things. This vision of an always changing theme park sparks the excitement of the rumor mill.
Introducing our new monthly installment: Rumors! Notclub33 has the 411 when it comes to the various Walt Disney World rumors. We’ll provide you with the names of the people spreading gossip (or truth?) and give our always colorful commentary. If we think it’s legit or bullshit we’ll let you know, and we’re keeping track of the accuracy of the rumors. This will be updated monthly.

NEW: NOVEMBER 2018– MansionButler84 from WDWmagic is saying new firework shows are being considered for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in 2019.
Update those bitches
I don’t know anything about the Christmas show, but I kinda like that they still have “Wishes” for Halloween. But if they can do anything to the level of Happily Ever After then sorry Hallowishes. #Newpyrotechswhodis.
May 2018 Carousel of Progress (New Ending), Peoplemover (New Scenes), and Speedway – Martin Smith from WDWMagic says these will get updates before the 50th anniversary.
June 2018 – Martin Smith from on WDWMagic says the Peoplemover could see several IPs sprinkled throughout.
The speedway needs more than a damn update
I’m okay with all of this stuff happening. I think the Speedway stuff is imminent considering they already had the old cars from Tokyo Disney on site. Back on February 1st, Mickey Views reported this would be getting reskinned into a Tron speedway.
May 2018 New nighttime parade – Big Fat Panda’s interview with former MK VP Dan Cockerell say its possible for the 50th anniversary
I personally don’t care but I know many people have been clamoring for this, no reason WDW doesn’t have a nighttime parade by now.
Wreck it Ralph attraction to replace Stitch’s Great Escape – (MagicFeather and Martin Smith at WDWmagic)
September 2018: Tom Corless is saying that Stitch’s Great Escape has been disassembled and is permanently closed
October 2018: Tom Corless is saying that Stitch’s Great Escape is already dismantled and will not reopen. He had pictures as evidence. Bring on the rumors!
Seems like a foregone conclusion this shit is happening. Whether or not it’s Ralph, only time will tell.
As long as Stitch’s
Not So Great Escape is dead, I’m happy.
Haunted Mansion restaurant – We can’t identify who started this one.
This is potentially a badass concept, but again where the hell would this one go?
Who wouldn’t want to eat here? Not anyone I would consider sane. However, this would most likely involve a re-theme of a currently operating restaurant due to space. The closest one being Columbia Harbour House which would cause pandemonium in the #DisTwitter world. I don’t see it happening.
September 2018: Mickey’s PhilharMagic to get updates – Jim Hill said there is a possibility of Tangled, Frozen and other additions to Mickey’s PhilharMagic in 2021.
Updates to attractions like this one are always a good idea
I’m okay with bulldozing the shit but I guess I’ll have to settle for an update – hopefully the upgrade the technology in there as well
August 2018 Spaceship Earth to be updated – Tom Corless is at it again. He’s saying Spaceship Earth could see updates soon. The article reports that scenes leading up to the Industrial Revolution will receive a “refreshing”, with scenes following the Industrial Revolution receiving changes on a “grands scale”. The article also indicates that the 180 degree domed top where guests currently see the Earth will receive significant projector updates.
October 2018: Tom Corless is saying that Spaceship Earth will close for 2 years starting in 2020 for a major overhaul. Essentially the whole damn thing will be updated from new scenes to an extended track layout and track replacement!
Oh Tom, I want to believe you buddy.
I’m calling this plausible, frankly as much as I love this ride it is definitely in need of an update
Inside Out Joining Figment – The DIS says Inside Out will be coming to the Imagination pavilion.
July 2018– scuttle from wdwmagic.com is saying that an Imagination project is in the works with a budget of $250 million. The project is expected to include Figment.
I’m okay with this so long as Figment isn’t treated like an afterthought….again, also bring back Dreamfinder.
Coco is replacing Gran Fiesta Tour – MagicFeather at WDWMagic says Coco replacing Gran Fiesta Tour is all but certain.
April 2018 – marni1971 from wdwmagic is saying that the Coco overlay to Gran Fiesta Tour is unlikely.
July 2018 – Scuttle from WDWMagic.com is saying that the Coco overlay for Gran Fiesta Tour is likely with a budget of $75 million.
August 2018 – marni1971 from WDWMagic is rsaying that the Coco overlay to Gran Fiesta Tour and the new attraction at the UK Pavilion are likely in an either/or situation with the budget for both at or under $75 million.
This would be an easy rehash for Disney. There are very few animatronics to replace, the fiesta scene would basically just need to replace the Caballeros with Miguel and Dante. The rest of the ride is essentially just screens and the surrounding facade is already Mexico so you’d think we would have heard something official on this by now considering the popularity of Coco.
I hope this rumor isn’t dead. Seems like a perfect match.
Brazil Pavilion – Martin at WDWMagic says this will be done by 2022.
July 2018: Scuttle from WDWMagic.com is saying that the Brazil Pavilion has been approved with a $450 million budget. The expectation is that $250 million of that will be financed by a Brazilian sponsor.
October 2018: marni1971 at wdwmagic is saying that Brazil would go between Italy and Germany. Also, expansion pads around the African Outpost might be used for future use. Possibly implying another country being added to the WS.
Update November 2018: Rosso11 at WDWMagic posted photos of a Disney survey asking about the addition of a Brazilian Steakhouse in Epcot.
Folks, they’ve been talking about this shit since I was a kid. However, anything that expands the World Showcase is okay with me.
Ditto what Pat said.
Marry Poppins in UK Pavilion – (MagicFeather and Martin at WDWMagic)
August 2018 – marni1971 is saying that the original proposal was not Mary Poppins. There are currently creative issues on the attraction. Possibility to open in early 2021.
We’ve heard rumors of Brave and Poppins.
Well shit, too bad Poppins isn’t being considered.
Mary Poppins is sadly underused in the parks and that’s a damn shame. Hopefully this will rectify this injustice.
Epcot Resort – (Magic Feather from WDWMagic) The Epcot resort could happen in one of three locations all within the Future World area. Tom Cordless from WDWNT says based on a permit (that shows absolutely nothing) it’s going in the front of the park.
June 2018 – Martin Smith from WDWMagic is saying the pond work isn’t necessarily for the rumored Epcot hotel.
Corless is talking out of his ass like Ace Ventura.
Corless talking out of his ass? Ya don’t say. I do happen to agree with him on this, but that’s just because it’s the most logical spot. It’s NOT based on any knowledge of the matter from an insider perspective.
September 2018: India Pavilion – Tom Corless is talking shit a this month. He’s saying an India Pavilion is in development for Epcot. The pavilion would have an attraction that used the same ride system technology as Pirates of the Caribbean Battle from Shanghai Disneyland based on the live action version of the Jungle Book. marni1971 from wdwmagic is somewhat backing his reporting by saying “while this is being discussed it is far from being approved.”
This would be badass. But this rumor of using the same ride system technology as Pirates of the Caribbean Battle from Shanghai seems to be floating around for every park with exception of MK.
October 2018 –marni1971 is saying there is a possible addition coming to The Seas Pavilion. The only detail is that it would shockingly be a non-IP addition.
Zootopia Expansion – Jim Hill says Zootopia is coming to Animal Kingdom.
Sometimes I think that Jim just makes shit up.
I hope Jim is right. I also hope to win the Powerball.
Indiana Jones replacing Dinosaur/Dinoland USA – Visionary Soul at WDWMagic says there is a possibility of an Indiana Jones themed land. South American themed with Dr. Jones Attractions.
May 2018 MansionButler84 and marni1971 are saying the latest information they have regarding Dinoland USA was updates to the land itself with DINOSAUR remaining unchanged.
June 2018: marni1971 from WDWMagic is now saying that the Dinoland USA update may involve Dinosaurs without Indiana Jones, but should this is still Blue Sky.
I’m down with that shit.
We can all agree that if Dinoland goes, the world instantly becomes a better place. This new update to the rumor seems like a waste of money and time either nix it or keep it. Hopefully it’s killed off with no mercy.
June 2018: Pandora Expansion – Jim Hill says that a 3rd attraction maybe coming to Pandora: The World of AVATAR. It would largely feature the 2nd and 3rd Avatar movies.
Hey Jim, I’ll call bs. Of all the shit that could be done at AK this seems silly.
While there is an expansion area laid out for Pandora, I cannot see this as being something on the forefront of plans anytime soon. Fix Dinoland and Rafiki’s Planet Watch first.
April 2018 – TheVisionarySoul from wdwmagic says that the following attractions are likely to close in the next four years:
Closing – Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Muppet*Vision 3-D, and Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Re-Imagining – Star Tours: The Adventures Continue and Rock ‘N Roller Coaster
Hell, none of these shock me. The closing of the Indiana Jones stunt show would give credence to the rumored boat ride.
This will all most likely happen. Hopefully we’ll get a new iteration of Dr Jones somewhere else in the Parks before i does though.
Indiana Jones Boat Ride – marni1971 from wdwmagic is spreading rumors that the ride system used for Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Shrunken Treasure attraction from Shanghai will be placed somewhere in the Echo Lake area.
May 2018 – MansionButler84 and marni1971 are saying Indiana Jones would be a possible attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
October 2018: marni1971 is saying that Disney has a couple of ideas brewing for a new Indiana Jones attraction and its considered for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 2018: marni1971 from WDWMagic is saying that the ride system used for Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure from Shanghai in Walt Disney World have been put on hold.
Sounds badass. Although, it smells like someone is making shit up. Dr. Jones is either going into Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom, but not both.
marni1971 is reliable so I’ll take him at his word here. We have to remember just because WDW is kicking around idea it doesn’t mean any of them will ever come to fruition.
September 2018: Monster’s Inc Themed area – Jim Hill is running his mouth again. This time he says Monsters Inc Laugh Floor being relocated to DHS as part of a Monster’s Inc themed area.
October 2018: Jim Hill says that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster could undergo a theme change soon.
Update November 2018: The New York Times posted an article suggesting a replacement is coming for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Disney has denied the claim.
A Monster’s Inc door rollercoaster rumor has been floating around the dis rumor mill for a long time. A Monsters themed area would be kickass. Jim’s record speaks for itself, so it’s probably bullshit.
Man, I would love for this to be true, but as with many things Jim Hill, it’s probably not.
Transportation between Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge – Martin Smith says new transportation between the two is being talked about.
This can’t happen soon enough. It’s the only Deluxe resort that has only bus service.
Skyliner! Skyliner! Skyliner!
New Tower at the Contemporary – Len Testa from touringplans has said that a ‘suite only’ tower will replace the current convention space.
This would leave the Grand Floridian as the only convention space near Magic Kingdom. The current convention area at the Contemporary is 115,000 sq ft. At the Grand Floridian it’s just 40,000 sq ft. That’s an ass load of space to give up, they better sell the shit outta those suites if this is true.
New Hotel at the former River Country Waterpark site – Tom Corless
Disney did file permits which essentially say they are exploring this area again as building site. It doesn’t say for what and again the permits are simply for a “geotechnical investigation” which is essentially the beginning stage of finding out whether or not a piece of land is suitable for a development. But if you follow Mr. Corless and his ever-knowing wisdom this means there will be a new resort there by dinner time.
This is the section where we keep score on the people pushing the rumors
Trouble? No way. You’re only in trouble if you get caught.
Moana in Adventureland – Jim Hill is at it again claiming that Disney is mulling over an old idea, Fire Mountain.
RUMOR IS BOGUS
Tell us the Truth Jim!!!!!!!
June 2018: Rafiki’s Planet Watch – Jim Hill said that Disney is conducting surveys for a Zootopia attraction at Animal Kingdom. He said that surveyors are asking guests at Donald’s Dino-Bash Meet and Greets.
Hey Disney, no need to take surveys. I already proposed a badass replacement for this attraction.
Wakanda… Zootopia….I’ll take anything that is not the thrown-together shithole that is RPW.
RUMOR IS BOGUS
Rafiki’s Planet Watch will be a seasonal attraction for now
Tell us the Truth Jim!!!!!!
New Monorail Trains – We can’t identify who started this one but Disney is meeting with companies to build new monorail trains in time for the 50th anniversary.
April 2018: Tom Cordless is reporting that a new fleet of Monorails has been ordered for Walt Disney World. The trains will reportedly be built by Bombardier of Canada, the same company that manufactured the current Mark VI trains. The article also speculated that the trains would likely be a version of Bombardier’s INNOVIA 300 model. This model is currently being used in Brazil and Saudi Arabia
April 29th – Disney Legend Bob Gurr basically confirmed that new monorails are coming to Walt Disney World in the coming years. COMFIRMED
July 2018 –Tom Corless of WDWNT is reporting that Splash Mountain will be sponsored by Ziplock starting 8/1/18 and that Ziplock will hand out free bags for guest to place their belongings in so they don’t get wet on the ride. CONFIRMED, while the reported date was a bit early Disney started distributing Ziplock bags to guests on Splash Mountain in the latter half of September
May 2018 New Illuminations – Several sources say it will be called Windows of the World and should be here in 2019.
June 2018 – Serval from WDWMagic are saying Illuminations replacement could be in place for 2019 but a temporary show could show up as early as this fall.
September 2018: CONFIRMED Illuminations is out at the end of next summer: read our update on it here
